She Who Fears

A Christian lifestyle blog that exists to glorify Jesus, encourage community, and build a healthy fear of the Lord

Oh, The Updates, The Norm

Wow, where to start...I guess that first, I'd like to say THANK YOU. You guys, my blog sort of exploded this weekend and I can't believe it. You all rule, and I hope that I can continue to provide interesting, thought-provoking content while still remaining faithful to the gospel. I would rather quit this thing altogether than stray from the truth!

Anyways, that doesn't really have anything to do with how our week went or what we did this weekend...

We had a pretty good week, although it was a little stressful because Miles' semester started Monday and he still hasn't received any books. Even though he's starting out about a week behind, he's seriously so determined and such a trooper. He realized there were ebook versions of all of the ones he currently needed, so we ended up having to purchase those to get some instant access and now he's on his way to catching up. I just hope those books arrive soon!

The weekend is where the real fun lies though! As you can see in the photo above, we are working on getting things together to build our very own home!! (Moon Moon hasn't left my side, she's so ecstatic). Saturday we attended a local homeshow where we window shopped and then Sunday after church we met with our builder. We're going really nontraditional. We will be the first to even purchase the style of home we are planning on from these builders and we couldn't be more pleased.

The coolest thing about our home is probably the lot we're looking at. It's still all up in the air but hint hint, we're thinkin riverside or downtown-y! I'm also equally excited about the open concept floor plan and minimalist exterior. It's nothing like anything else in this town. So far we've managed to agree on the style we are going for (clean lines, white counter tops, subway tiles, wall colors) so we'll see how the rest of the process goes. I think the hardest part for me is finding cheaper alternatives to some of the interior stuff (when you're designing the whole thing it's really easy to get out of hand and out of budget).

I'm really excited to be able to share more with you all, but you'll just have to come back when we have some more info that is shareable. Have any of you bought/built a home? What were some of the best/worst parts?

ADVICE??

If you're a DIYer maybe you have some advice on neat, cheap interior ideas...?

Okay, remember in one of my older posts I talked about deals?? Check this out! We ended up buying a new tie, black work shoes, and a cute desk sign for Miles, a fab new peacoat for me, a new toaster oven, a cooling rack for baking, and a stainless trashcan with a lid for our bathroom. After two 20% coupons we ended up saving $261.78 and spending absolutely zero dollars because we had so much money in gift cards! We still have more, too, so I plan on waiting for more coupon or kohl's cash opportunities and then hittin the clearance racks again ;)

Again, praise Jesus for more work on our marriage. It seems that each week the grace we experience is even more evident and the love we have for one another is even stronger. It's been super fun and super sweet doing life with this dude and I wouldn't want it any other way!

How was everyone else's week? What was your favorite part of it?
